My first oil painting of the year - IMBOLC ✨

✨Imbolc is a festival celebrated on 1st February, and I wanted to capture it with a young woman’s daydream of the warmer months to come.

☀️ The sky shows the glimmer of red that comes in the morning light when the sun makes its return.

🥛 She holds a jug of milk- Imbolc is roughly translated as ‘in the belly’, so milk is often used to celebrate it, signifying the new life cycle and fertility that is just round the corner.

I have consciously tried to slow down with my creative process and bring it back to why I truly paint- which is not for performance, but for me ✨
